Say Goodbye to the Clone Tool!

This is just brilliant. It’s not scalling or cropping images, it’s more like dynamic recomposition. Having this in Photoshop would be game-changing. And later, when I’m able to do this dynamically on the web will be bazonkers. I’ll finally embrace liquid layouts with open arms.

South By Bye

SXSW_panarama_1.jpg

I’ve been back from SXSWi for a little bit now, so I thought I’d write a recap before it fades into the sunset of my memory.

It was my first time there, and my first time at any web conference, actually, so everything was 100% fresh for me.

I leave for SXSW this week

DSC07739_copy_2.jpgI’m heading off to Austin this Friday for SXSW Interactive. Megan will be staying behind to keep us in business, so I’ll be messing with Texas solo. So if you see a dude drunk with freedom… that won’t be me. I’m more likely to lose my confidence without my better half.

Little Fat Man Who Sold His Soul

I can’t get this song out of my head. It’s from the second season of Ricky Gervais’ newest show Extras. I’ll try to catch you up. Gervais plays Andy Milman, a struggling actor who spends the first season working as an extra while being humiliated by the ‘real’ actors, and well meaning but daft friends who never fail to put their feet in their mouths or his. Andy is the brightest and most socially considerate among his group, but he’ll still find a way to sabotage his own efforts to get ahead, and somehow still remain at the bottom rung of his career.

Launching ColbertNation.com

This has been a very busy and exciting summer for us, and probably the best example of that for me happened last month when we launched ColbertNation.com. As you might know, the site is the official fan site for The Colbert Report on Comedy Central. The show is insanely popular and I knew it already had a huge audience. That means there’s a lot of eyes watching as we launch and that there’s not much room for error. So of course since I was confident that everything I could control was all set, there would be problems with things out of my control.
